I'm reading a book on North Dakota city names, and was quite surprised to find that there was one a town and depot named Osgood. The hot place to live in Fargo nowadays is something called Osgood Addition, so of course I pulled up the county's section map, compared it with the Fargo neighborhood map, and sure enough, it's the same. Rather than being named after a developer or local dignitary, Fargo's Osgood Addition was named after an 1878 homesteader named George E Osgood. The spot the Northern Pacific depot stood is now an enclosed neighborhood, with streets askew to match the former railroad track's path.
