Message Detail:

Since they tell you to keep receipts in case of return or exchange (and for your own income tax purposes), the 'crime' is in publishing the receipts.

Now I dont have the best head for detail, but doesn't the piece of paper they give you have CUSTOMER COPY printed on it? Therefore,
(1) They are distributing, into the public domain, information that may harm their company in cases of fraud. That fella should be sacked on the spot for putting his company at risk. Or *thinks* pats on the back for a great job-creation racket.
(2) There are other copies kept. Copies (or data) kept by Walmart and others (their suppliers? the IRS? Visa?). As a software developer, I know these copies can be in different formats, with different info displayed (or left off). Whatever information he is referring to, secret barcoding or item code numbers or the manager's telephone number or whatever, leave it off the customer's copy. Simple. Problem solved.

Now the only people with access to the oogedee-boogedee fraud data are WalMart employees. Then he can go chase those naughty people who work at Dilworth Central who had the temerity not to be named after their parents.
