Yup -- it will be all of my purchases, everything that I buy and can record. Really, I _should_ make it a completely separate website, so that there isn't a WalMart Site association, but this way I can put my banner ads there too :) and I intend on linking to it from the Receipt Site, for a little more flexibility in browsing my life. The URL will also be familiar, but it shouldn't be equated with the receipt site in any way. 'public conversations about my shopping' has already be done, so I don't want to fall into the trap of imitating myself.

As for the suggestions you've mentioned, they're all right on with that I'm working for. Where the receipt site really doesn't have much from ME, it's just a bunch of pictures of my receipts with content created by visitors depending on their experience, Shopper2001's purpose will be 'mass of content' - content is created on-the-fly depending on what the site visitor wants to see. searching for info & compiling data is it's functions, but how it puts things together in an "entertaining" way is where I'm struggling. It may be a month or two before everything is together, but there won't be any real content until then anyways, so 1/1/01 isn't a deadline for site launch or anything...

Shopping 2001 will be better suited as a time-waster; click on a day, get a receipt, click on an item, get all other similar items, click on a price, get all similarly priced items, do a search, limit the search by days, click on an item, find all the similar items purchased within your date-range, etc., etc....everything should be clickable, linking to a search page for more information. Graphs are a ways off, maybe. Trying to figure out the best and easiest way to create them.

And, I really do appreciate input - in a former life, I was trained in the arts, so I know how to take critical input :) Even if you think it's grasping at straws, it may still be useful, creatively.

Is the Shopper 2001 a record of all your purchases rather than just those from Walmart? I'm trying to figure out the difference. Obviously all of this has been a personal project that has turned into something much grander. The mystery of having no other information besides the receipts to start a conversation seems to be the primary reason this site has grown into what it has. I don't know that people are attracted the specific purchases as much as they like the surprise of a new receipt randomly showing up and turning it into what they want it to be. The scans of the actual receipts give visitors more to work with (i.e. Matt, the one line ads at the bottom, the abbreviations, etc)
Would you be up for adding charts or stats? Maybe you could show the average number of shopping trips you make in a month year. Or a year-to-date count of each product could show up for each product that was purchased on a particular day. Does that make sense? I don't know if this is the kind of thing people like to see, but it would give you another avenue to pursue without repeating yourself. How about providing a way for visitors to guess the date of the next time you will purchase a particular items. When the correct date is guessed that person's name appears next to the item or something...I grasping for anything now. I dig the look though.
