Message Detail:
Derek, you got rid of the ol' Volare just in the nick of time. On AOL *leaves a bad taste in my mouth* today, they have this list of the top 10 worst cars ever. The Volare came in 7th place! Here's what they had to say about it:
"This car began to rust while it was still in the showroom."

"The stalling problem was so bad that I had to take a clockwise route to work so I could make all right turns, and not risk stalling on a left turn in front of oncoming traffic."

"After the floor boards rusted out in the rear, they would fill up with water and freeze. I ended up putting soda crates on the floor in the back to keep people from falling under the car."

"The only useful purpose this car served was as the model for the car used in National Lampoon's Vacation."

"Owning a Volare was total ego death--the theme song, the vinyl Landau roof, the inability to pass another car on the highway."

True -- my Volare was pretty much rust held together by rich Corinthian leather :) I never had any stalling or acceleration problems, though -- and, in the volare's defense, the police-car version of the volare (and it's twin, the Aspen) lived on for many many years. I actually drove my Volare 150 miles to Watertown SD two years ago, and was able to keep up to the speed limit of 75mph. Boy, I miss that car :) I think every person needs a rust-bucket car, just for fun. My Corsica gets me to work and back, but it doesn't have character - the Volare had personality.

*snif*

*staring off into the distance, reminiscing*

:)
