Yes, I know I've brought this up before, and if you want to help, be my guest, otherwise don't worry about it: This webpage has fax numbers for a dozen or more of the largest-circulation magazines in the US. If there's one that's a local phonecall in your area, fax them a copy of the Shift magazine article(here's a more faxable version, easier to print legibly). Am I fishing for attention? Well, yes. Both personally, and also for the site: the more traffic the receipt site gets, the more likely it'll be around for a long time. The site proven to be very resilient when it comes to additional traffic - we're now going on to 10 months of continuous media presence (see news history going back to last Dec). Media coverage moves around, and for this site it started with "loser" and "useless site of the day" lists, to "cool site of the day" lists, to blogs & online journals, to newspapers, to radio morning shows, and so forth. Magazines is this month's thing, with the Shift article, the Computing article, the Fortean Times article, etc., etc. You'd be surprised to hear that print publications and their counterpart websites are often very separate entites, the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing, other than possibly some common ideals & direction. Faxing the publisher's directly will probably be more useful than sending them a link via email. Yes this is Mr.-Derek-the-marketing-guy talking: Print publishers are visual and tactile people - having a fax in their hands will stick in their minds better than an email on their computer screen. So, want to help spread the dogma of the receipt website? Fresh blood is always nice :) |
