interesting question - i have wondered if you've been bothered by people to your own email address, seeing as you post it. There's got be an element of trust in human nature not to abuse you, have you experienced anyone bothering you? Nope....strangely, if I get negative responses, they just send one short email, and that's it. Most emails I get are from people who "discovered" that my credit card number is on the receipts :) Equally odd, I recently, while cleaning my inbox, compiled all my receipt-site-related emails into one large file, with intention of posting it all, but I haven't gotten to it yet.....sooon.....soooooon.....
At the seminar today, the fearmonger-privacy-advocate brought up all kinds of examples of banks being fined for releasing info, people arrested for stealing identities and such, as examples of why we neeed more ability to cover up the facts of our lives. A bit later another guy said "well, from what he said, seems like our current laws are really good at catching the lawbreakers!" :) The problem isn't in freedom of information, it's in industries not trying hard enough to keep in compliance with current laws regarding use of data.... In case you guys haven't guessed, I'm not a privacy advocate :) |
