I must be working here longer than I think - my coworker Jason returned from seeing Madonna in Chicago, and he brought back presents for all of us. He knows me well enough to have picked out a nearly perfect gift - issue #4 of readyset...aesthetic. Kick ass! It's always nice to find out about new music, especially from a reputable 'zine.
Daily Condition:in CD player: submarine, skindiving
my condition: running out the clock. There are only 4 of us left in the entire company today, and the phone hasn't rang in hours.
Derek Is Reading:The Roads of Heaven (compilation of 3 earlier novels), by Melissa Scott
My contribution to the Mirror Project - I used to have a way cool reflection photo from years ago, but unfortunately I can't find it. This one will have to do for now.
We sent out a mailing recently, one with a postage-paid response card. As expected, we get very few cards back, but one arrived today, completely filled out.The fact that someone is actually interested in our products isn't the significant part. The way it was filled in caught me off guard. The respondant typed in his information. Not with a IBM Selectric, mind you - this card was wound through an old, manual typewriter. His 'x' and 'l' are bent, letters are irregularly dark due to the force needed to imact the paper, and the hammer doesn't hit at the top edge of the letters properly, either due to years of use, or it is in need of calibration. It's been years since I've seen anything created with a real typewriter.
