It's sure nice to be in business...now, what business am I in? I'm actually in a lull right now, picking up speed to a peak very soon -- I have a stack of products to sell on eBay, a couple prospective webdesign clients, so I need to get my ass in gear now. Here's my internet-related net-profit goals, which I'll look back on and laugh at in a couple years:

This year: $6,000 (I'm at a little over $1,000 now)

2002: $10,000

2003: $15,000

If I make $15,000 on top of my salary for my day-job, that equals around 1/3 of my income will be earned part-time. This is a little short-sighted, in that in 2003, I could either have $20,000 in receipts and $5,000 in business expenses, or I could have $50,000 in receipts and $35,000 in expenses, and still reach my goal. How I get to that point is the unknown.

"Are you Mark?"

"Nope, sorry...."

"his name is Derek, he's my daddy."

She lets me return to rummaging through the $0.25 box of LPs sitting at the edge of her garage sale.

"Are you married to Jill?"

"Nope, still not me...."

"You just look so familiar, I'm trying to figure out where I've seen you before."

Due to the alignment of the calendar, the 4th of July fell on a Wednesday, thus creating the slowest work-week ever. Nobody calls, nobody faxes, and there's not much to do. All the insurance agents, only a few days after recieving thousands of dollars worth of commission checks, head out for parts unknown, leaving their offices closed or in the hands of able seceretaries, who are sitting at their desks doing the same thing as me.

Being the only person in the office, I keep myself busy, but it's still boring. Not that I'd be any more productive at home, but it's the principle of the thing.
